Small House set to Grow – Redevelopment Planning Permission Achieved

On behalf of our clients, we have applied for and achieved planning permission for a extension of a bungalow into a 2 storey family home in a leafy suburban street in Hertfordshire. The design is a modern take on a traditional double gable arrangement with a projecting lobby and use of brick and render to create a smart new appearance. It allow for much internal freedom in the layout, while not being too visually different to the neighbours. There has been careful consideration of the design in terms of maximising the internal space for a growing family and reducing the impact on the neighbouring houses with the addition of a balcony on the rear of the property overlooking the garden. Throughout the design development one of our main focuses was to make full use of the kerb appeal potential, in terms of what local Planners were likely to think appropriate. They were keen to keep a fairly low building. From this we have designed a building that provides additional rooms and unique spaces throughout. The new layout will be much more sociable, useable and less corridor like. There will be a large living room with fireplace. The kitchen dining area is also very spacious.
There are ensuites to most bedrooms, all with natural light, and a large master bedroom with dressing area which allows placement of the bed overlooking the balcony and garden. New measures to improve insulation are envisaged.
